HAPPY NEW YEAR

ALONE

I have been
Lost too long

Lost

Among the people
Crowded but

Alone

In my agony
Lost, alone

Searching

Someone

I need to hold
To be held

Where are
You

Maybe there isn't

Anyone

No one

Only

Me

Forever

                             ALONE

THE ART OF LOVE

. . . an excerpt from "THE ART OF LOVE"

. . . a work of art thriving and flourishing.

We become alive, alive within the painting.
Alive in life, in living, and loving.
Our passion comes to life
You and I living and loving
Vibrant and alive...

Surprisingly my first publication

A Mountain's Sojourn

Advised by a friend or two I submitted "A Mountain's Sojourn" on a whim to a local newspaper not expecting anything at all really.  By an amazing accident that I don't even recall I found out that the "Highlander" published this piece of mine just days before I moved away.  I consider "A Mountain's Sojourn" to be an epic unlike anything else I had written in the past.  It was full of description, colors, and images of the seasons that surrounded me instead of the feelings of beauty as it related to love, romance, falling in love and feeling loss.  Amazing how things evolve; in truth and surprisingly "A Mountain's Sojourn" would become the cornerstone of Memories, Thoughts, and Dreams.

Changes to the Book

The book that was printed back in 2000 did not include "A Mountain's Sojourn" and included  three poems that are not in the current book.  The poems that were taken out, 'Am I' - 'Happy Day' - 'Untitled',  seemed to interrupt the theme of Memories, Thoughts, and Dreams.  What I did was write new poems to replace them, 'Kiss' - 'The Art of Love' - 'A Life's Sojourn'.

"A Mountain's Sojourn" was first written while living in Highlands, NC but it wasn't a poem at all.  I was writing - emailing - friends of mine back in SE Florida, mostly people that either I worked with or those that worked for me at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts (you know who you are), some of whom never experienced the changing seasons of the north or some that missed the seasons.  My letters were filled with the descriptions of what I was experiencing.  One day I decided to go back and read all of those messages and found that with a little rephrasing, not much at all actually, I would have a beautiful poem . . .

More later about "A Mountain's Sojourn" in another post.
